GAINESVILLE—Up with People, the music and service organization for young performers, will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Hall County next week.

The group of performers comes into town Monday and will work on several projects during the week, culminating with their performances later in the week.

"They're working with us out at our donated subdivision, and we're doing trail clearing. We're creating a community garden. They're going to be helping us in our ReStore," Hall County Habitat Executive Director Ann Nixon said.

The group is also slated to build a small habitat home for the Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK) and work on projects at several local high schools.

As far as how Up with People became connected with Habitat, Nixon said a local performer, Reed Partrick, is a member of the traveling group.

"It was through Reed's interest and his family's interest to be able to bring this show to Reed's hometown that we were fortunate enough to get engaged with them," Nixon said.

The city of Gainesville is getting involved in kicking off the week by welcoming the cast with a parade of flags around the square beginning Monday at 12:30 p.m.

Mayor Danny Dunagan will walk with the cast in the parade. The Mayor and Habitat representatives will officially welcome them to town in the theater of the Brenau Downtown Center.

The Up with People performances are scheduled Friday August 21 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday August 22 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Pearce Auditorium at Brenau University.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, seniors and children and family 4-packs are $65.

Nixon said ticket proceeds benefit will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Hall County.
