LAWRENCEVILLE - The father of a Gwinnett County girl who was starved to death in 2013 was sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday.
The body of Emani Moss, 10, was found burned and stuffed in a trash can. Prosecutors said she weighed only 32 pounds when she died.
Both her father and step mother were arrested in the case. Eman Moss agreed to testify against his wife in order to avoid the death penalty.
Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said prosecutors believe Tiffany Moss played the biggest role in the murder, and that Mr. Moss just failed to protect the girl. They are still seeking the death penalty against the step mother.
Eman Moss pleaded guilty to murder in the case.
