As cleanup continues from the storms that raked parts of northeast Georgia Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of the possibility of more stormy weather this afternoon and evening in a number of areas, including Gainesville.

However, the agency says the mountain counties that were hit hardest Monday should escape any severe storms today.   The area likely to be impacted today is along and south of a line from near Carrollton to north of Toccoa.  That includes the Homer, Jefferson, Winder, Gwinnett, Cumming and Gainesville areas.

The NWS says "localized flooding, damaging winds and frequent lightning" are possible in those areas and all of central and south Georgia between 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
