KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) An 18-year-old Georgia man has died a week after falling with a safety cord wrapped around his neck at a Knoxville ropes course.

Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk tells local media that Gregory Horan of Cumming, Georgia, died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on Wednesday night.

Authorities say Horan was going through a ropes course at Ijams Nature Center on July 22 when he slipped off a log suspended about 15 feet above the ground. The fall caused him to dangle in the air with the harness cord around his neck

He was not breathing and did not have a pulse when he was lowered to the ground and freed from his harness.

An autopsy was performed Thursday, but preliminary results were not yet available.
