GAINESVILLE — A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with a burglary earlier this week at a Cricket Wireless store on Atlanta Highway outside of Gainesville.

Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes said Friday that releasing video surveillance footage of the Tuesday break-in led to the arrest.

"In this incident, we were able to get some good footage and we posted this to our Facebook account and within two days we were receiving tips and leads on the identity of this 15-year-old juvenile," said Bailes.

Bailes said the suspect on the video did not take any cell phones or merchandise from the store, but he apparently took a large amount of cash from the store. She said investigators were able to retrieve $7,500 from the teen at the time of the arrest, which they believe to be a portion of the cash stolen from the store.

Bailes said the teen's family members encouraged him to turn himself in, which he did on Thursday.

The teen faces one count of felony burglary. He remains at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.
