Kyle Busch adapted quickly to NASCAR's new low down force aero package for the Sprint Cup Series Saturday at Kentucky Speedway, leading 163 of the race's 267 laps en route to the win. Busch made the final pass for the lead on Joey Logano with 18 laps to go, and drove away to score the win, moving him another step closer towards a possible spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
While other usual contenders such as Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch struggled to get a handle on their cars as they raced with less down force on the 1.5 mile speedway, Busch used his short track savvy to control most of the race and score the win.
Afterwards, we heard from Busch about the package and how it affected his race. We also heard from car owner Joe Gibbs, second place finisher Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, who finished in third place.
On Friday, Brad Keselowski used a lap car to get around Erik Jones with eight laps to go, and held off Jones to score the win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Kentucky. Jones had taken the lead on a lap 170 restart, but found himself slowed as he worked lap traffic, allowing Keselowski to get to him and eventually take the lead.
It marked the third series win for Keselowski at the Sparta, Ky. speedway, and the 33rd of his career. After the race, Keselowski talked about the late race pass on Jones. We also heard from second place finisher Jones, along with fourth place finisher Daniel Suarez.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series both head for the Granite State, as both series will be in action at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH this weekend. WDUN will have live coverage of the weekend’s action.
