CLARKESVILLE — Former state Sen. Carol Jackson has joined North Georgia Technical College as Associate Vice President for Economic Development.

“Carol’s experience in owning and operating small businesses will provide our college an opportunity to assist entrepreneurs throughout our service area,” said Vice President for Economic Development Dr. Mark Ivester.  “This will be a much needed expansion of our existing services due to the many small businesses in northeast Georgia.”

School officials also say Jackson has a tremendous knowledge of the college’s service area which includes Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Rabun, Towns, Union, Fannin, and White Counties. She served most of those counties as state Senator from 1998 through 2004.

A life-long resident of White County, she served as County Manager for White County 2009-2011 and is a former White County Clerk of Court.
