GAINESVILLE — An exhibition of black-and-white photographs by Lee Anne Romberg White will be on display upstairs at the Gainesville Branch of the Hall County Regional Library during July and August as part of the library’s ongoing commitment to feature art of local interest.

The photographs showcase White’s life-long fascination with the landscape and plants. According to the photographer, “I love the landscape best in the quiet moments - in the soft light of sunrise, on winter days when the trees bare their bones, and on foggy mornings when less is visible and the world doesn’t seem quite so complicated. I am drawn to the subtle beauty and elegance of plants in every season.” The exhibit includes images from two series: Fingerprints of an Island, which was photographed on Florida’s Amelia Island, and Botanical Studies.

White's work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows, and recognized in international competitions. She has served as a photography instructor for the Maine Media Workshops and as the principal or major contributing photographer for more than 20 books and 70 magazine features. Her most recent books includeThe Mutable Sea: Reflections on Change and Closer to Nature: The Alluring Landscapes of Simmonds & Associates. She grew up in Gainesville, attended Gainesville High School and Brenau University, and currently lives in Cumming where she pursues photography, art and writing.

The exhibit is free and open to the public through the end of August during regular library hours at the Main St. location: Monday and Thursday, 12pm-8pm; Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am-6pm; Friday 9am-5pm; and Saturday 9am-1pm.
