BUFORD - Hall County fire officials said the cause of a house boat fire along Lanier Islands Parkway Friday morning appeared to be electrical in nature.

According to Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle, first responders received the call from near Lake Lanier Islands just before 8:00 a.m.  A neighbor made the call after seeing smoke coming from the boat.

Cagle said the boat, a 14 by 56 feet 1973 Custom Lazy Days vessel, is valued at $49,000.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured, according to Cagle.  He said the boat has been turned over to the owner and insurance company.
