More record high temperatures were set in northeast Georgia Thursday despite isolated showers that popped up in places and cooled things.

Cleveland (92), Cumming (94) and Sautee (88) all set record highs for the date. according to the National Weather Service (NWS)  http://w2.weather.gov/climate/xmacis.php?wfo=ffc. It was 93 in Gainesville, seven degrees short of the record of 100 set in 1952.

Records that were set Wednesday included Athens (99), Cumming (93), Cornelia (93), Cleveland (91), and Sautee (87).   NWS data was incomplete for several cities.

In some places Thursday, readings dropped 20 degrees in one hour because of late-day showers or the threat of rain.

Long-range forecasts call for temperatures to remain several degrees above average across the state through next week with little, if any, rain in sight.
