OAKWOOD — The Gene Haas Foundation has awarded Lanier Technical College (LTC) $10,000 to fund scholarships for students in its Machine Tool Technology Program.

“The generosity of the Gene Haas Foundation for our Machine Tool Technology students at Lanier Technical College is incredible,” LTC President Dr. Ray Perren said. "We are honored to have this relationship and I couldn’t be more pleased with the work that (Machine Tool Technology Program Director) Jim Mealor and Michael Schmidt (Machine Tool Technology Instructor) do for our students in establishing these relationships.”

The Gene Haas Foundation is the personal foundation of Gene Haas, the founder/owner of Haas Automation, manufacturer of CNC machines.

Scholarships for the Machine Tool Technology Program students will be awarded beginning this fall.

Nathan Mauldin works a CNC machine as part of Lanier Tech's Machine Tool Technology program hands-on curriculum.
