FLOWERY BRANCH — The Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) recently recognized the Flowery Branch Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) and Cinnamon Cove Condominiums with its  Wastewater Gold Award.  The award is for meeting the group's NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit requirements

"While meeting permit requirements may not seem to be noteworthy," says a GAWP statement, "it is important to recognize that it is a significant achievement. Literally thousands of water quality tests are conducted each year at these facilities, any one of which could cause a 'non-compliance' for this prestigious award."

GAWP currently tracks the permit performance of over 250 water providers and water treatment facilities.  More than 80 facilities were awarded the Gold Award and more than 60 received the Platinum Award.
