GAINESVILLE — Tyler Nguyen, a 2015 Gainesville High School graduate and NJROTC Cadet Commanding Officer, has received a full scholarship to Georgia Military College (GMC) and Mercer University.

Nguyen was accepted into a five-year advanced Master’s program in which he will attend Georgia Military College for two years and then transfer to Mercer University.  After completing two years at GMC, Tyler will be commissioned to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

At Mercer, Tyler will study in an advanced Bachelors program for eighteen months and then enter into an advanced Master’s program.   At the completion of the five-year program, he will receive a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mercer University.

“Without a doubt, Tyler is one of the finest students and cadets that I ever had the pleasure of teaching and getting to know,” states GHS NJROTC instructor MSgt. Jack Reese.  “This could not have happened to a better young man.”
