FLOWERY BRANCH — The Georgia Department of Transportation says a three-week detour is planned starting this afternoon as part of the widening of Friendship Road near Flowery Branch.

The detour will be activated as about 500 feet of Puckett Road nearest the Friendship Road intersection is closed so the grade of Puckett can be changed to meet the grade of the new Friendship Road. The detour will be in place for a maximum of three weeks, until the end of the month, according to GDOT officials.

A traffic shift is also planned in the work area this afternoon. Traffic on Friendship Road from the rock quarry to near Spout Springs Road will be moved over to use the newly built lanes of the roadway. This shift will allow workers to rebuild the original lanes of Friendship Road in the area.
