GAINESVILLE — The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) announced Monday a medical director has joined the staff at the shelter.

The medical director role is a new position that has been filled by Dr. Jaime Feroli. Feroli will perform spay/neuters as part of HSNEGA's high-volume Spay/Neuter Center, as well as manage veterinary care of adoptable animals, directing staff training and setting care policies and protocols. She will also oversee services at the Wellness Clinic.

“The role of Medical Director is new to HSNEGA, and we are very excited about this addition to our team,” says Julie Edwards, HSNEGA Executive Director. “Having a full time medical director is one of our first steps toward expanding our ability to serve the community.”

Previously, Feroli served as the medical director of Planned Pethood of Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Wildlife Management from University of Findlay and her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. She was also trained in high-volume spay/neauter surgeries at the Humane Alliance in Asheville, N.C.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with HSNEGA and be part of a team focused on enhancing and expanding their level of care and services for at-need companion animals,” says Dr. Feroli. “As a current resident of northeast Georgia, I also am glad I have the ability to serve my community.”

Feroli and her husband, a Georgia State Trooper and an U.S. Army National Guardsmen who has served two combat infantry deployments, along with their two dogs, Vista and Dash, and cat, Grayson, live in Talmo.
