Video: Johnson, Buescher, Reddick win at the 'Monster Mile'

Posted 8:00AM on Wednesday 3rd June 2015 ( 9 years ago )

While several drivers and teams are now breathing a sigh of relief having escaped the “Monster Mile” at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Del., others felt cursed by their bad luck – or perhaps at some aggressive driving on another driver's part.

But only three drivers are leaving as happy as they could be – the three NASCAR National Series winners from the Dover race weekend.

Jimmie Johnson came into the weekend amid a lot of talk about history.  While he didn’t factor into the race for much of the 400 laps, he did lead 23 circuits – the final 23 – to score his 10th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Dover victory, making him one of only five drivers (including Hall of Famers Richard Petty, David Pearson, Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt, Sr.) to win 10 or more races at a single track.

After Sunday’s race, Johnson talked about the win, along with crew chief Chad Knaus.  We also heard from second place finisher Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson, who finished third.

On Saturday, Chris Buescher pushed his way past teammate Darrell Wallace, Jr. with a handful of laps to go.  While Wallace went to the pits with a flat tire, Buescher scooted away to score the win.  We heard from Buescher post-race, along with Matt Kenseth, who finished in second, and third place finisher Regan Smith.

On Friday, the NASCAR Camping World Trucks did battle on the one-mile concrete oval, with Tyler Reddick making a late-race pass on Erik Jones to score his second series victory on the year.  Reddick talked about the win in post-race, as did his Truck owner, Brad Keselowski.  We also heard from second place finisher Daniel Suarez and third place finisher Jones.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to action next week, as the tour heads for the 2.5 mile, three turn "tricky triangle" that is Pocono Raceway in Pocono, Pa., while the NASCAR Xfinity Series has the weekend off.  WDUN will have live MRN Radio coverage of the entire NASCAR race weekend.
