DAHLONEGA — The University of North Georgia will provide free meals to children in eight counties - including Hall - in the Summer Food Service Program funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. Meals will be provided at various locations in Forsyth, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Oconee, Stephens, and Union counties.
All children 18 years of age or younger are eligible. However, those 19 or older who have a mental or physical disability — as determined by an educational agency — and who participate in a school program for the mentally or physically disabled are also eligible to receive meals.
In certain circumstances, pregnant women who receive Early Head Start services are also eligible to receive meals if they are 18 or younger. To establish eligibility, expectant mothers must be enrolled in Early Head Start and be eligible to receive school meals through the National School Lunch Program or another child nutrition program.
