CLEVELAND - A former Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy is now in custody following an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
49-year-old Michael Lusk of Cleveland has been charged with Computer Invasion of Privacy involving his unauthorized procurement of personal data for his own personal gain and Violation of his Oath of Office, both felonies.
The GBI was called in when the Sheriff’s Office requested an investigation into his alleged misconduct.
The charges stem from computer inquiries made by Lusk in early May which were not for official purposes.
Hall County Senior Sgt. Kiley Sargent said of Lusk, "He was released of his duties here at the Sheriff's Office before he was arrested."
The GBI sought warrants on May 22, 2015 from White County Chief Superior Court, Judge Murphy C. Miller.
Lusk surrendered himself at the White County Jail and has been released on a $10,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
