TOCCOA - The Georgia State Patrol has identified the victims of a fiery Tuesday morning wreck that claimed one life and left two others, including a toddler, critically injured.
According to the report, a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Reed Haga was traveling north on Georgia Highway 106 near Lawhouse Road. For an unknown reason, Haga's truck crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 32-year-old Candice Huot of Toccoa.
Following impact, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 59-year-old Bruce Gay of Carnesville struck the rear of the Jeep. All impacts occurred in the southbound lane of Georgia 106.
Huot and her 2-year-old son, Alexander Huot of Toccoa, were critically injured and were airlifted to the trauma center at Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment of what troopers said are serious injuries.
Haga died at the scene.
Gay complained of a neck injury but was not taken from the scene for treatment.
The wreck was reported via 9-1-1 at 9:26 a.m. and shut down a section of Georgia 106 until nearly 1 p.m.
