WEST POINT, Ga - Authorities say one person was injured and a suspect has been arrested in a shooting at a Kia Motors automobile plant in Georgia.
Troup County sheriff's Sgt. Stewart Smith confirmed the shooting Tuesday afternoon inside the auto plant near the Georgia-Alabama state line. Smith said one person was wounded and had been taken to a hospital by helicopter. He said authorities had a lone suspect in custody.
Few other details were immediately available. Smith said authorities evacuated the plant and it appeared to be clear following a sweep.
He did not know how severely the shooting victim had been injured.
Kia spokeswoman, Corinne Hodges, said in statement that details remain under investigation and the company is cooperating with authorities.
Kia employs more than 3,000 workers at its Georgia plant.
