GAINESVILLE - A house in the 3400 block of Sugar Hill Way was damaged by a fire Monday night that may have started in the garage.
Hall County Fire Services spokesman Scott Cagle said when firefighters arrived about 9:00 they found fire coming from the garage area.
"Firefighters were quickly able to knock down the fire with most of the damage contained to the garage," Cagle said. "Family members were home at the time of the fire but all escaped without any injuries."
He said one of them had arrived home 15 minutes prior to the fire "then later the fire was noticed coming from his vehicle. Early signs of the investigation shows the car may have been pulled onto some household garbage that ignited."
Cagle said the $125,000 house suffered about $50,000 in damage, "most of that being smoke damage throughout the house."
