OAKWOOD - One more step and then Oakwood will have an ordinance limiting the number of vehicles that can be parked in front of a house.

The city council Monday night held first reading on an ordinance amendment that City Manager Stan Brown says will limit to one-third the amount of a yard that can be used for parking - and the parking cannot be on grassy areas.

The restricions had been discussed in several meetings and public hearings over the past few months.  The original proposal sought to limit to four the number of vehicles but that was amended a few weeks ago.

A second reading will be necessary to finalize the amendment.

Monday night's vote was unanimous.
