SYLVANIA, Ga. - Casey Roberts only needed to lead one lap – the last lap – to pick up the Ultimate Super Late Model Series victory Saturday night at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga.
Roberts, of Toccoa, Ga., made the pass on G.R. Smith on the final lap to score his 15th career series victory, along with a $5,000 payday.
Brandon Overton of Appling, Ga. set fast time in qualifying with a quick lap of 14.680 seconds. When the green flag flew, Overton moved to the top spot, and would lead most of the event.
Overton’s dominance came to an end with a late race pass by Smith on a restart. Smith tried to distance himself from the field, but was rundown by Roberts. On the final lap, Roberts made the pass for the lead and the win.
Smith held on for second, with Overton in third, Zebulon, Ga.’s Shane Clanton in fourth and Dennis Franklin in fifth.
Hunter Peacock, Scott Shirey, Ivedent Lloyd, Jeff Smith and Kelly Guy rounded out the top 10.
The Ultimate Super Late Model Series returns to action on Saturday, April 11 for the $20,000 King of the Commonwealth race at Virginia Motor Speedway. For more info, visit UltimateSupers.com.
