FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference has released the postseason matchups and details for the league's 2015 Championship Lacrosse Tournament held in Rocky Mount, North Carolina the weekend of April 17-18.
Piedmont enters the USA South postseason as the #1 overall seed and will play 4th seeded Ferrum College on Friday, April 17 at 1:00 pm in one of two semifinal matchups that day.
On the other side of the semis is the #2 seed Meredith and #3 seed Greensboro who will play for the remaining spot in the USA South Championship Game set for Saturday, April 18. All tourney action will occur at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex Football Stadium as part of the USA South Spring Festival.
The top four teams in the seven-member sport made the championship cut as Methodist, Huntingdon, and LaGrange all finished on the outside of the field. Piedmont's semifinal matchup against Ferrum (8-6, 3-3 USA South) is a rematch of a March 7 meeting between the two that went the way of Piedmont, 12-7.
In that contest, Lady Lion MCKYNSEY DOUGLAS scored five goals to lead the visitors to a win on the Panthers' campus. Now the two will face each other at the neutral site in Rocky Mount for the rights to play for the 2015 USA South Championship the next day.
Piedmont defeated Greensboro College last year in the semifinals before falling to Meredith in the league's title game in overtime. This season, Piedmont again finished undefeated in league play for the second consecutive year with a 6-0 mark and currently stand at 13-0 overall.
The Lady Lions' next contest is sure to be a good one as Piedmont matches up with another undefeated team in the Tigers of Sewanee playing on the road at the Tennessee-based institution. That showdown will come on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:00 pm.
