GAINESVILLE - The legendary former General Electric Company CEO Jack Welch and his wife, business journalist and television commentator Suzy Welch, will appear at Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium Thursday, April 30, in a public event following publication of their second book, "The Real-life MBA. "
It is open to the public and starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include admission to the event and a copy of the new book. It is the first event in Georgia following the April 16 publication of the Welches second book and the only appearance scheduled in the state on the team’s nationwide book launch tour.
“This is a coup for Brenau University,” said Brenau President Ed Schrader. “Jack Welch for decades has enjoyed a reputation as a virtual oracle in the business world. Suzy Welch as the former editor of The Harvard Business Review helps keep him grounded.”
The Brenau appearance is part the Kay and Doug Ivester Endowed Program Series at Brenau.
The couple’s earlier book, "Winning," was an international bestseller when published more than a decade ago. Since then, the Welches have traveled throughout the world consulting with business leaders and teams in a diverse array of industries. Their encounters, they said, enriched their insights into trending ideas and business practices, covered in their newest book.
Today, Jack Welch is executive chairman of the Jack Welch Management Institute, an online MBA school with more than 1,000 students. The popular program draws from Welch’s 20-year career as chairman and CEO of General Electric Company, which has been recognized as the world’s most valuable corporation and consistently voted the most admired company in the world by Fortune magazine.
Suzy Welch is equally accomplished in her career as a best-selling author, television commentator, and noted business journalist. The former editor of Harvard Business Review, she attended Harvard University and Harvard Business School. She also is the author of her own best-selling book, "10-10-10: A Life Transforming Idea."
The Welches’ visit will give Brenau a chance to showcases its MBA program, one of Georgia's largest in terms of enrollment. It is the most popular degree program offered at Brenau with availability on several campuses as well as online in multiple specialties, including project management and healthcare administration.
Immediately after the one-hour program, the Welches will move next door to the university’s Sellars Gallery for book-signing. Additional copies of the book will be on sale there.
