Hall Co. Healthcare Science students win state awards

GAINESVILLE - Students from Chestatee, Flowery Branch, Johnson and West Hall high schools recently competed at the State HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Conference in Athens.

These students placed in the Top 10 in their competitive events:

- Kaelin Conley, Flowery Branch High School, 2nd place, Life Support Skills
- Diana Hernandez, West Hall High School, 3rd place, Healthy Lifestyles
- Emaa Miller, West Hall High School, 4th place, Medical Reading
- Jackson Forrestall, Flowery Branch High School, 4th place, Nutrition
- Parker Ramey, Chestatee High School, 5th place, Medical Terminology
- Logan Dumanowsky, Johnson High School, 6th place, Medical Law and Ethics

- Morgan Burgess, West Hall High School, Finalist, Health Issues Exam

These Hall County schools came home with awards:

*Outstanding Chapter of the Year, West Hall High School

*National Service Project Award, Chestatee High School

*National Service Project Award, West Hall High School

Students who have completed at least 50 hours of community service and received the Barbara James Service Award include: Connor Grady, Johnson Kenzie Haynes, West Hall High; Hannah Wilson, West Hall High; Leyla Karimzadeh, West Hall High; Janessa King, West Hall High; Dakota Thomas, West Hall High School, and Samantha Alverson; West Hall High.

Students who placed in the top three or received Outstanding HOSA Chapter, Barbara James Service Award, or National Service Project are eligible to compete at the National Conference in Anaheim, California., in June.
