CLARKESVILLE - The Toccoa Literacy Council has partnered with McDonald's of Toccoa to assist GED students at the North Georgia Technical College Whitman Street Learning Center with job opportunities even before they have completed their studies.

Susan Nichols, owner of the Toccoa McDonald's restaurant, met with students Monday and discussed what an employer looks for when hiring a potential employee. She also described what skills are needed to be an exemplary employee.

Nichols provides monthly gift certificates to students in the program as an award for perfect attendance and for demonstrating leadership skills in the classroom.

Representatives of the restaurant will visit the GED class at the Currahee Campus next week for a similar discussion with those students.
