Frierson, who currently serves as an assistant principal at the elementary school, was named to the position at Monday night's Gainesville City School Board meeting. Superintendent Wanda Creel visited the school Tuesday morning to announce Frierson's appointment to the school staff.
Frierson will succeed Charlene Williams, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
