Huffman shared the league honor with Columbus State's Michelle Mitchell and was named as a first team selection while Hutchins garnered third team status.
USC Aiken's Emry Tsitouris was named the Freshman of the Year and Columbus State's Carrie Washington the Defensive Player of the Year. Columbus State head coach Jonathan Norton was named the Coach of the Year.
Huffman is tied with Mitchell for the conference lead in scoring with 20 points per game. The senior guard from Woodstock, Ga., is currently eighth on the PBC's All-Time career scoring list with 1,633 points. She has also amassed 859 career rebounds, 11th on the PBC list. Huffman is ranked in the PBC's top 10 in seven different statistical categories and leads the league in free throw percentage.
Huffman, named a Capital One/CoSIDa Academic All-American (2nd team) earlier this year, has scored in double figures in 38 consecutive games and is the only player in PBC history to have 1500 points, 800 rebounds, 350 assists and 100 steals.
The two-time PBC Player of the Week becomes the second straight Nighthawk to be named a PBC Player of the Year and third in the last four years. UNG's Mimi Hill collected the honor in 2014 while current graduate assistant Jaymee Carnes earned the league's top honor in 2012.
Hutchins ranks second on the team in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounds (7.2 rpg). The sophomore forward from Lawrenceville, Ga. ranks second in the league in free throw percentage (83.8%) and sixth in blocked shots (24). She scored a career high 32 points in a Nov. 25 win over Ft. Valley State and reached double figures in scoring in all but seven contests.
North Georgia, the No. 2 seed from the West, faces off against No. 4 West Georgia College (15-12) in PBC Tournament semifinal action tomorrow (Mar. 7) at 3:30 p.m. in UNCP's English E. Jones Center.
