The STAR Teachers are Chuck Bennett of Chestatee and Dr. Brenda Barger of RMA.
The awards ceremony was hosted by the Hall County School District and the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville at The Oaks at Lanier Charter Career Academy in Chicopee.
This year's event had to be re-scheduled from the original date of February 24 because of severe winter weather that forced the closing of city and county schools.
Lawson, Bennett, Nguyen and Dr. Barger will now compete for regional honors March 17 at the University of North Georgia/Dahlonega. The winner of Region 2, which includes Hall, Dawson, Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, Union, Towns, Rabun, Lumpkin, Habersham, Stephens and White counties, will advance to the State STAR Student-Teacher banquet April 22 in Atlanta.
