ATLANTA - Gainesvillle's Good News Clinics was recently awarded a grant of $19,000 by It's The Journey, Inc., producer of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

The grant will fund free screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, and ultrasounds to uninsured residents of Hall County. It is one of 28 totaling $820,000 awarded by It's The Journey to breast cancer and breast health programs across Georgia, and is the second grant that It's The Journey has given to Good News Clinics in the past year.

"We are thrilled to continue to support Good News Clinics to increase our impact in Hall County. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and the Good News Clinics, in partnership with It's The Journey, is taking steps to detect and treat breast cancer among underserved populations in our state." said Kimberly Goff, Executive Director of It's The Journey, Inc.

Mary Baxter of Good News Clinics said, "We are grateful for our partnership with It's The Journey to bring necessary diagnostic testing to our patients, many of whom would not otherwise be able to afford these vital breast health services."

It's The Journey, Inc. produces the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, an annual endurance walk that raises funds for breast health and breast cancer programs in Georgia. Since 2002, the 2-Day Walk has raised $11 million and funded 242 grants which provide screening and diagnostic mammograms to underserved communities, educate patients on early detection practices, offer multi-language treatment options, and provide wellness, counseling, and rehabilitations services.
