DAHLONEGA -- Behind a balanced offensive attack that saw five Nighthawks score in double figures, the North Georgia women's basketball team scored 17 unanswered points to rally from a double-digit second half deficit and down Armstrong State, 75-72, in a Peach Belt Conference quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon in Memorial Hall.

North Georgia moves to 21-8 overall and advances to face the winner of East No. 1 Lander and West No. 4 Georgia College at a location to be announced on Saturday, Mar. 7 at 3:30 p.m. The Lander/GC game is set to tip tonight (Feb. 28) at 7:00 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.

Kaylee Akin came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points for the Nighthawks, fueled by 3-of-4 from behind the three-point line.

Cierra Jackson added her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Kelsey Hutchins pitched in with 16 points and nine boards.

Brigitta Barta came off the bench to pace Armstrong State (13-14) with a game-high double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds. Alexia Somerset and Shermika Harris added 14 and 12 respectively.

Jordan Livesay and Stephanie Huffman added 13 and 11 points respectively for North Georgia. Livesay made good on 3-of-6 three-point shots with all three long distance makes coming after intermission. Huffman needed a basket with 1:33 left in the game to extend her string of consecutive games in double figures to 36.

Armstrong led 37-28 at the break and would lead by as many as 10 (54-44) with 10:55 remaining, but the 17-0 run would give the Nighthawks control of the contest and a 61-54 lead with 6:34 left.

Armstrong would get within two after a three-pointer from Dee Hayward with two seconds left on the clock, but the Pirates would not be able get the ball back as the game ended.
