DEMOREST -- The Piedmont College women's lacrosse team picked up its third straight win to open the 2015 season earlier Saturday knocking off visiting Hanover College 20-0 at Walker Athletic Complex.

The Lady Lions saw goalie Blake Forrest pick up the shutout, the first in her young career for PC, and the first clean sheet of the season for the Green and Gold. Forrest completed the 60 minutes in the cage for the win while the loss went to Amanda Mousa for Hanover.

Leading PC with four goals on the afternoon was Alexis Narducci as she opened the scoring sheet for PC just 51 seconds into the contest. Piedmont was up 4-0 within the first three minutes of the contest storming out early on the board as the Lady Lions led by a dozen at the halftime break.

Three Lady Lions had three goals a piece for Piedmont including two freshmen in Logan Ruck and Francesca Malabad, who joined savvy veteran McKynsey Douglas with a trio each. Douglas is the leading goalscorer for PC and only Lady Lion in double figures with 12 on the year while Ruck and Malabad each now have five on the season.

Jenine Brideau's goal at the 14:29 mark of the first half made it a 10-0 lead for PC as Brideau had one score and three assists on the day. Piedmont's assists leader on the afternoon was junior Maggie McDaniel, who has been running the show in 2015 with a team high ten assists on the year with seven of those coming today alone.

Piedmont's ground balls leader was another freshman in Caitlin O'Brien who had five to lead the team. Five others had four each including Malabad, Brideau, McDaniel, Douglas, and STORM CUTHBERT who made her first start of the 2015 season earlier today.

Up 12-0 at the break, Piedmont would get eight more scores in the second half with six of the eight being assisted efforts as the Lady Lions moved the ball well on the attack. Five different Lady Lions scored for the home team in the second half including Julianna Surgent, who scored at the 17:38 mark to make it 15-0 PC before Piedmont went on to the 20-0 shutout victory.

The Lady Lions will be back in action this coming Monday as Piedmont starts the first of four road games traveling to play the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern College on March 2 in Alabama. The contest is set for a 6:00 pm ET, 5:00 pm CT start.

The game is a homecoming of sorts for Piedmont Head Coach Emily Jacquette as the Lady Lion leader started the program at Birmingham-Southern before coming to coach the Green and Gold. Jacquette was 18-9 as the leader of the Panthers including an incredible 12-3 season in her final year with the program, 2010.

The Office of Sports Information at Birmingham-Southern will provide live stats and live video as coverage options for the contest on March 2.
