UNG plans open house for future students; Gainesville campus event is Apr. 18

Prospective University of North Georgia (UNG) students can tour the university's campuses and learn about UNG and the educational opportunities it offers in upcoming Open House events beginning on March 7.

"These events are perfect opportunities for prospective University of North Georgia students and parents to learn about how the university can prepare students for careers or further education after graduating," said Keith Antonia, executive director of undergraduate admissions. "Those attending will also learn about our academic programs, co-curricular programs and activities, financial aid, the admissions process and more, and will also take a campus tour."

The dates and locations for Spring Open Houses are:

Oconee Campus: March 7, 9 a.m. to noon, 1201 Bishop Farms Pkwy., Watkinsville
Cumming Campus: March 24, 6 to 8 p.m., 300 Aquatic Circle, Cumming.
Dahlonega Campus: March 28, 8:30 a.m. to noon, 110 S. Chestatee St., Dahlonega
Gainesville Campus: April 18, 9 a.m. to noon, 3820 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood

The Oconee Campus Open House will begin with registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m. This will be followed by a short welcome ceremony in room 522 of the Student Resource Center. Between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., there will be several concurrent information sessions. Campus tours will also run during this time. An academic and activities showcase will run from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Cumming Campus Open House will begin with registration from 5:30 to 6 p.m. This will be followed by a short opening session in room 125, and four concurrent information sessions between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. An academic and student services showcase will conclude the event in the learning commons at 7:30 p.m. Students will have an opportunity to explore the building between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Open House at the Dahlonega Campus will begin with registration from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium, followed by a welcome ceremony at 8:30. Tours will be given every half hour between 9:15 a.m. and noon, with the last tour departing at 11:15 a.m. Several information sessions will also be held during this time; with most sessions running at 9:15, 10, 10:45, and 11:30 a.m. An academic and activities showcase will also run from 9:15 a.m. to noon.

The Open House event on the Gainesville Campus begins with registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Hugh Mills Physical Education Center. A welcome ceremony will follow, with guided campus tours running from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Several concurrent information sessions will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. An academic and activities showcase will also run in the Student Center's Dr. Herbert W. Robinson Ballroom from 10 a.m. to noon.

All open house events are free, but registration is encouraged.
