ATLANTA (AP) -- Don't put away the candles just yet. It appears that more ice, along with several inches of snow this time, is headed toward parts of north Georgia - including the Gainesville area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for a number of counties north of a line from Summerville-to-Jasper-to-Homer. It goes into effect at 1:00 Friday afternoon and is scheduled to expire 24 hours later.

The affected areas include Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties. It also includes Pickens, Dawson, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson and Madison counties.

Forecasters expect 2-3 inches of snow and 0.10 to 0.25 inches of ice. The snow is forecast to begin Friday evening, turning to freezing rain overnight.

Officials say the winter weather could cause hazardous driving conditions along with ice accumulations on trees and power lines - which could lead to more power outages in areas still trying to recover from the ice storm that struck earlier in the week.
