North Georgia softball suffers 3-2 loss

DAHLONEGA -- The No. 9 University of North Georgia softball team fell for just the second time this season, 3-2, to Nova Southeastern Saturday afternoon. The Nighthawks drop to 7-2 on the season, while the Sharks advance to 7-3.<br /> <br /> Ally Legette (0-2) was tagged with the loss for UNG pitching 3.2 innings three earned runs on four hits, striking out one.<br /> <br /> Nova got on the board first when a Meagan Lee line out to right served as a sacrifice fly, scoring Dakota Villella in the fourth. The Sharks would go on to load the bases and score two more in the inning on a two-run single up the middle by Shelby Cogan.<br /> <br /> The Nighthawks charged back in the bottom of the fifth plating two runs off of a Jessica Finch two-run single to center, scoring Alexis Collis and Taylor Anne Merritt, to pull North Georgia within one run.<br /> <br /> UNG would threaten again, putting the tying run in scoring position in both the bottom of the sixth and bottom of the seventh, but could never push the run across.<br /> <br /> North Georgia will wrap up the UNG Loyal Blue Classic later today, taking on No. 25 Wingate.
