BUFORD - The funeral will be held Sunday in Alabama for a Buford man and former student at Lakeview Academy in Gainesville whose body was found in Lake Lanier last weekend.

Kelly Hanson Nash, 25, had been missing for about a month when his body was found near Shadburn Ferry Road. He had been the object of an widespread, highly-publicized search and his family had offered a $50,000 reward for information on his whereabouts. (See earlier stories. Links below.)

A spokeswoman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office said late Friday afternoon there still had not been a ruling on a cause of death.

"We are still waiting to hear from the medical examiner," Nicole Bailes said. "At last talk, he was awaiting investigators' reports to finalize (the) cause of death. I'm hoping to get that information next week."

Nash's funeral will be at 1:00 Sunday in the Lemley Funderal Home Chapel in Oneonta, Alabama. He was a former resident of Oneonta.

(AccessNorthGa.com's Alyson Shields contributed to this story.)
