NGTC names campus Chief of Police

CLARKESVILLE - North Georgia Technical College is pleased to welcome Mr. Stan Lovell as the Chief of Campus Police. <br /> <br /> "He brings a wealth of knowledge and law enforcement experience to the position," said Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mike King. "He knows the college and already is a familiar face to many of our students, faculty, and staff. He is an experienced officer and leader that will do a great job for our college. We are happy to have him as part of the NGTC family."<br /> <br /> Mr. Lovell has served as Chief Investigator for the Habersham County District Attorney since 1998, preparing cases for trials by state prosecutors. As he moves into the role of Police Chief in the college environment, he is conscious about the importance of building relationships with students.<br /> <br /> "Young people will make mistakes," he says. "I want to make them feel like they can come to their Chief before they get into trouble." <br /> <br /> Stan is well known to students already as he has been employed at the North Georgia Tech on a part-time basis for a number of years providing police coverage on weekends. He also serves on the Criminal Justice Technology Advisory Board. <br /> <br /> Though on board full-time only a few days, he has already reached out to the law enforcement agencies of Habersham, Stephens, and Union Counties as well as the Clarkesville Police. "Communications is key to providing the best support we can," he says. During the next several months, his plans are to work towards improving communications throughout the college campuses as well as with the community organizations.<br /> <br /> "I am grateful to DA Brian Rickman and former DA Michael Crawford for building my confidence, knowledge, and education in this field," he says.
