Norcross man dead after fleeing police

A Gwinnett County man has died after being pulled from his burning vehicle following a chase with Gwinnett Police Saturday morning in Norcross.<br />

According to a release from the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers received a call at around 3 o'clock Saturday to a hit and run incident around Jimmy Carter Boulevard near I-85. A nearby officer later spotted a vehicle driving erratically near Brook Hollow Parkway and attempted to pull the suspect over, but the driver sped away.<br />

The same officer later spotted the vehicle in flames in the parking lot of Malibu Grand Prix. Officers pulled the man out of the vehicle but he died at the scene.<br />
<br />
It was determined that the suspect, 37 year-old Alfred Grooms of Norcross, hit a parked car causing his vehicle to ignite.<br />
<br />
The incident is still under investigation, and it is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor.
