CUMMING - Forsyth County authorities said Tuesday afternoon a woman who was shot by burglars at her home on Pilgrim Mill road Monday morning is expected to survive her wounds.

Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater did not release the woman's name, saying only that she is 70-years-old. The woman apparently surprised the two suspects around 10:30 Monday morning. Rainwater said she was shot by the suspects and then returned fire with a weapon she had in her home.

Rainwater said the woman was shot twice - once in the arm and once in the stomach. However, authorities don't know if the suspects were injured in the altercation. They continue to search for the pair, described only as a black male and a black female.

Rainwater said the two are believed to have committed at least three break-ins in the area Monday morning.
