GAINESVILLE - The North Georgia Community Foundation is kicking off the third year of its Nonprofit Lunch & Learn Series on Feb. 19.

This year's series will focus on board development and governance. Other session dates are April 16, June 18, August 20 and Oct. 15.

"Each program will provide practical training on a key area of board development and attendees will learn the core principles and best practices that drive nonprofit board effectiveness," said Callie Flack, NGCF Vice President, Programs. "The sessions are designed for current or emerging organization leaders and board members are encouraged to attend."

Led by Debbie Stanford of NorthStar Nonprofit Institute, the first program is called "Assessing Your Board Culture."

Stanford will help nonprofit directors and board members identify steps to becoming a higher functioning board that operates more efficiently. She will present key performance measures so nonprofit directors can rate their board and compare the performance to best practices. Stanford will help directors have a clearer understanding of how theirboard is currently operating and how they can begin to do things differently.
