MONROE — The Dawson County girls moved into the semifinals of the The Bulldog Classic with a 54-45 win over Athens Christian at George Walton Academy Monday night.
Senior Karlie Bearden paced the Lady Tigers (11-0) with 21 points and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in the process. Haley Burgess added 13 points and Kaylee Sticker nine for Dawson County.
The Lady Tigers started slow leading just 16-9 after the first quarter and just 27-21 at halftime. But Dawson County turned up the defense in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Eagles (5-4) 18-10 to run out to a 45-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Dawson County next will take on Prince Avenue at 4 p.m.. on Tuesday at George Walton Academy.
