GAINESVILLE - Academy Sports surprised a number of students at a Gainesville school Friday with new bicycles.
Bicycles and helmets were give to 30 students at Gainesville Exploration Academy on McEver Road as part of a company-wide program benefiting more than 4,000 boys and girls in 15 states at 120 separate sites.
Company officials say the purpose of the annual event is to provide local schools with an opportunity to reward children during the holidays with bikes and helmets for perfect attendance, academic performance, good behavior, and/or need. Academy will donate over $250,000 in youth bikes and helmets this year.
