ATLANTA — Quarterback Brandon Rainey ran for a touchdown and Skyler Davis kicked the clinching field goal to lift Allatoona to a 10-6 win over Glynn Academy in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA football championship at the Georgia Dome.

Rainey completed a 23-yard pass to Derrand Garrett to reach the 1 and scored on a keeper the next play to open the scoring with 6:49 left in the third quarter.

Davis added a 29-yard field goal with 2:21 to provide an insurance score for the Buccaneers (14-1). Allatoona became the first public school from the suburban Cobb County system to win a state championship.

Glynn Academy (12-3) scored its lone points on a 9-yard keeper by quarterback Deejay Dallas as time expired.

The only threat in a scoreless first half came when Glynn Academy's August Bowers missed a rare 49-yard free kick at the end of the second period, hitting the right upright and bouncing away.
