Girls basketball: Flowery Branch defense sparks blow out win over Cedar Shoals

FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch held Cedar Shoals to single-digit scoring in three of four quarters en route to a 63-28 rout of the Lady Jaguars Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action.

The Lady Falcons (7-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) opened the game with a 21-7 first quarter and then extended their lead to 33-11 by halftime. Flowery Branch blew the game open outscoring Cedar Shoals (1-8, 1-3) 21-10 in the third quarter.

Julianne Sutton led Flowery Branch with 12 points. Breanna Locke and Taniah Worth chipped in with 10 points apiece for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch will travel to Oconee County on Saturday in a non-region contest.
