LAKE WALES, Fla. — The Piedmont men's basketball team traveled to Florida and came away with a victory Friday evening winning 71-61 over Johnson University of Florida. The Suns were a late addition to the schedule but the Lions took care of business moving to 3-3 on the season with the win.
CHASE ENGLAND led the team with 18 points while CHRIS MEEKS notched another double-double grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 15 points. TRAE GAINES was the only other Lion to reach double figures as he scored 12 Friday night.
The Suns' Baker led all scorers with 19 points in the game as Johnson had a pair of scorers in double figures. The Lions won the battle on the offensive glass as they had 14 offensive rebounds to the Suns' 8.
Piedmont is now 3-3 on the season with their last two losses coming by just three points each including an overtime game against Oglethorpe. The Lions will face Berry College on the home court for their final contest inside Cave Arena before the holiday break on Monday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m.
