ATLANTA — The Georgia Secretary of State's office issued a press statement Friday, saying details of an internal investigation into a data breach earlier this fall will be released Monday afternoon.

According to Brian Kemp's office, the report will describe the events leading to the voter information release, including over 5000 related emails, communication with the Georgia Department of Revenue, personnel files for relevant employees, IT project documents, documents related to PCC Technology Group, information and reports on mandatory data security training from 2015, relevant job descriptions, employee statements, information related to voter list requests, internal IT policies, and plans for remedial action.

The information for some six million Georgia voters was released to media members and political party officials. While it is not unusual to release some voter information, the 12 discs released in October also contained social security numbers and other personal information. Kemp's office said all 12 discs had been recovered.

Documents will be made available to any member of the public for inspection. For more information on viewing these documents or for questions regarding the data release, please contact the Secretary of State's office hotline at 404-654-6065.
