Habersham S.O. warns of vehicle unlock scam

CLARKESVILLE - An unknown person claiming to be law enforcement is charging area residents to unlock vehicles.

The Habersham County Sheriff's Office issued an alert to residents to be aware of the suspected scam in which the individual, who is driving a black Ford Crown Victoria, is charging residents $55 to unlock cars after they accidentally lock their keys inside.

Anyone with information about the person is asked to call the sheriff's office at (706) 839-0500, ext. 0, or to leave an anonymous tip at the department's website at http://habershamsheriff.com/?p=145

The Habersham County Sheriff's Office provides unlock service free of charge as a courtesy.
