GAINESVILLE - Nominations are now open for the 2015 Young Man and Young Woman of the Year Award.
Sponsored by the Gainesville Jaycees, the award recognizes young leaders in Hall County for their achievements in leadership and service to the community.
Nomination forms are available online at www.gainesvillejaycees.org and are due Wednesday, Jan. 6. Women and men who are 40 years of age or younger who were living in Hall County during 2015 are eligible.
The Young Man of the Year award dates back to 1945, and the Young Woman of the Year award to 2001. The purpose of the award is not only to honor deserving young men and women, but also to inspire the community to pursue civic service with selfless devotion.
“Much is expected of these honorees,” says Sam Latimer, President of Gainesville Jaycees. “They have continued their service to the community long after their award, going on to serve in positions such as federal judge, U.S. Congressman, Governor, bank president and generous philanthropist.”
The 2014 recipients, Trey Wood and Heidi Ferguson, are leading efforts to solicit nominations for the 2015 award. The awards will be presented at a banquet on Thursday, Feb 18, at 6:00 at the Chattahoochee Country Club.
All nominations must be received by Wednesday, Jan 6. Nominations can be submitted online at www.gainesvillejaycees.org, emailed to [email protected] or [email protected] or mailed to Mr. Trey Wood/Mrs. Heidi Ferguson, YMOW & YWOY Judging Committee Chairs, P.O. Box 1058, Gainesville, GA 30503.
