Hall Co. tag renewals will be handled differently in December

Posted 2:10PM on Monday 23rd November 2015 ( 9 years ago )
GAINESVILLE - Hall County residents ready to renew their tags this December will not receive the standard renewal notice from the Department of Revenue (DOR).

Hall County officials learned last week that instead, generic letter notifications will be sent out, but will not include the same information, such as the amount due.

"Renewal notices are a courtesy reminder mailing that we have been fortunate enough to have approved in our budget. Though tax commissioners are not required to offer this service, we believe it's a win-win for us and our residents as we realize that sometimes life gets busy and we forget," said Tax Commissioner Darla Eden.

The generic letters will have instructions for obtaining your Renewal Identification Number, which will automatically populate in the renewal program to continue the process.

Eden said there are five ways for county residents to renew their motor vehicle registrations: online at the county website, or on the DOR website, in person at the Hall County government center, at the self-service kiosk on Nopone Road and by mail. She said to be sure to have your drivers license number or plate tag number when you call for the amount or to renew.
